Forane – Isoflurane Liquid
Description
ISOFLURANE (FORANE) LIQUID – TREATMENT FOR GENERAL ANAESTHESIA
As a general anaesthetic, isoflurane usp liquid for inhalation is used. Major surgical procedures employ it. It enables the treatments to be performed without suffering or discomfort. Only hospitals are allowed to use this drug.
The loss of consciousness brought on by isoflurane usp liquid for inhalation is reversible. It is administered in a hospital or clinical setting under the direction of a doctor or a nurse. You shouldn’t administer this medication to yourself.
Respiratory depression, low blood pressure, and irregular pulse are some of the side effects. High blood potassium levels and malignant hyperthermia are examples of serious adverse effects. If you or a member of your family has a history of malignant hyperthermia, you shouldn’t use it.
Usage during a caesarean section, however, seems to be safe for the infant, even though use during pregnancy is uncertain. The halogenated ether family of drugs includes isoflurane.
In the United States, isoflurane was given the go-ahead for medicinal usage in 1979. It is among the most efficient and secure medications required in a health system, according to the World Health Organization’s List of Essential Medicines.
